Sassariente

Sassariente is a mountain summit in Ticino at 1,768 meters elevation, reached through trails that pass through forested areas and rocky sections. The route takes hikers across different landscape types to reach the peak.

The mountain bears traces of the 'Muro dei Polacchi', a stone wall built during the 1940s by Polish internees. This structure serves as a remnant of that period in Swiss history.

The summit displays a large metal cross, reflecting Swiss tradition to mark major peaks with religious symbols. This landmark is visible from far away and serves as a clear orientation point.

The main hiking route starts from Monti di Motti and requires several hours to complete with a moderate ascent. Bring proper hiking boots and sufficient water for the journey.

Near the summit stands a wooden boardwalk installation that makes the final stretch of the climb safer. Safety chains help guide hikers over slippery sections.
