Motta Naluns, Winter sports resort in Grisons, Switzerland

Motta Naluns is a viewing plateau at 2,142 metres in the Silvretta range above Scuol. Its name combines Romansh Motta, meaning hill, with Naluns, a field name. The south-facing slopes look across to the Engadine Dolomites and the Piz Lischana.

The Motta Naluns ski area has grown since 1955 on the territory of the former municipalities of Scuol, Ftan and Sent. An eight-seat gondola, in operation since 2009, now carries skiers and pedestrians up in winter. In summer hikers and scooter riders use it to reach the viewing terrace.

The name Motta Naluns is Romansh: Motta means a small hill or rise, while Naluns is a local field name. The plateau lies above Scuol in the Lower Engadin, where Romansh is still spoken, and the ski area has grown since 1955 on land of the former municipalities of Scuol, Ftan and Sent.

An 8-seat gondola, in service since 2009, runs from Scuol up to the 2,142-metre plateau; in summer walkers and scooter riders use it to reach the viewing terrace, the starting point for further routes. A restricted access road from Ftan via Prui is open in summer only, with a permit. South-facing slopes look across to the Engadine Dolomites and Piz Lischana.
