Le Petit-Chasseur, Prehistoric necropolis in Sion, Switzerland.
The Petit-Chasseur archaeological site contains four dolmens and nine stone burial chambers stretching across an extensive prehistoric burial ground in Valais.
Systematic excavations between 1961 and 1992 revealed multiple occupation levels dating from the fourth millennium BC through the Iron Age around 500 BC.
The site features twenty-eight anthropomorphic stelae depicting male figures with various adornments, indicating social hierarchies in ancient Swiss communities.
Visitors can access detailed information about the necropolis at the Museum of History of Valais, which displays original artifacts from the excavations.
Six aligned standing stones discovered in 2019 include a two-ton carved monolith with geometric decorations and a solar motif around its face.
