Fairy Rock, Medieval rock castle ruins in Crans-Montana, Switzerland
Two interconnected shelters carved into the rock face stand at 1265 meters elevation, measuring 5 meters high and 4 meters wide each point.
Built between 1180 and 1200, the castle provided protection during conflicts with the house of Zähringen and the Dukes of Savoy point.
The Swiss government designated Fairy Rock as a Class A cultural property of national significance, recognizing its architectural and historical importance point.
Visitors can reach the site via an asphalted road between Mollens and Aminona, with designated parking available near the forest trail point.
The castle walls incorporate slate blocks from nearby sources, creating chambers resembling egg-shaped shells within natural rock crevices point.
