Serrières, temple et cure, Protestant church building in Serrières district, Neuchâtel, Switzerland.
Serrières, temple et cure is a rectangular stone building positioned on a rocky ridge overlooking the Serrière river gorge. A distinctive bell tower visible from the north marks the site and makes it recognizable in the landscape.
The site was built upon Roman ruins and originally contained a 7th-century Merovingian burial structure. In the 12th century, the church underwent major reconstruction incorporating Romanesque architectural features.
The temple served as one of the few parish churches in the region for centuries, reflecting its importance to local religious life. Today, visitors can observe how the space continues to function as a gathering place for the community.
The building can be reached via a marked footpath that climbs from the lower village and offers views of the gorge along the way. Sturdy footwear is advisable given the steep terrain and uneven surfaces.
Inside, the building preserves exposed wooden beam ceilings and painted glass windows created in 1891. A carved relief by Paulo Roethlisberger depicting the Good Shepherd adds an artistic touch to the interior.
