Headquarters of Swatch, Biel/Bienne, Architectural complex in Bienne, Switzerland
The Swatch-Omega Campus is an architectural complex with three main sections: the Swatch Headquarters, the Omega Factory, and Cité du Temps. The site integrates production areas, offices, and public spaces within a cohesive design that emphasizes timber construction.
The site developed after architect Shigeru Ban won a design competition in 2011. This followed a previous collaboration between the architect and the company on the Nicolas G. Hayek Center in Tokyo.
The campus brings together watchmaking traditions and contemporary design in a way visitors can see and experience. The timber construction and open layout reflect how Swiss craftsmanship shapes the buildings people work in.
The complex combines office spaces, production areas, and public zones all within one facility. Some sections may require advance notice to visit, so checking ahead before arriving is a good idea.
The roof consists of roughly 7700 individual timber pieces that were fabricated with extreme precision using specialized design software. This construction approach shows how traditional craftsmanship and digital planning work together.
