Grand Garage Göuffi

The Grand Garage Göuffi at Gerbergasse 56 is a building combining repair workshop and residential spaces across multiple floors. The structure shows the typical mix of commercial and living areas that characterized architecture of that period.

The building was constructed between 1928 and 1929 and initially served as Grand Garage du Jura for automobile repairs. It was renovated in 2000 and converted to residential use while its architectural character was preserved.

This building demonstrates how architects of the 1920s combined automobile facilities with residential spaces in a single structure. The wide windows and clean facade reflect the excitement for modern mobility that shaped the city at that time.

The building is located in the New Town area and is easily visible from the street. You can view the exterior at any time to see the facade and characteristic windows of the structure.

After being converted to residential use, the building retained the large workshop skylights that now bring natural light into the apartments above. These technical features still tell the story of its former use as a repair facility.
