Edea Hydroelectric Power Station

The Edea power station spreads along the Sanaga River, incorporating fourteen operational units that generate electrical power through water flow management systems.

The power station began its operations in 1953, gradually expanding its capacity through additional turbine installations until reaching completion in 1958.

The facility represents a central element in Cameroon's industrial development, enabling the operation of aluminum production and supporting regional economic growth.

With a generating capacity of 264 megawatts, the station supplies electricity to more than 136,000 households across the surrounding regions.

The station combines six Kaplan turbines of 21.9 megawatts each with three Francis turbines of 16.4 megawatts each for optimal power generation.
