Mogao Caves, Buddhist art in China.
The Mogao Caves, also known as the Thousand Buddha Grottoes, are a system of 492 temples located in Dunhuang, China.
The caves were constructed over a millennium, from the 4th to the 14th centuries, along the Silk Road.
They contain some of the finest examples of Buddhist art spanning a period of 1,000 years.
The site is open to the public, but due to its popularity, it's recommended to book tickets in advance.
The Library Cave, a hidden compartment sealed for nearly a thousand years, was discovered in 1900 containing a vast collection of manuscripts.
