Guizhou, Province in Southwest China
Guizhou is a landlocked province located in the southwest of the People's Republic of China. It's known for its traditional rural villages and diverse minority cultures.
Historically, Guizhou was one of the last places where Chinese feudalism persisted due to its isolation and challenging terrain, until communist control took over in 1949.
It is home to nearly 34 million people with Han Chinese constituting the majority and more than one third of the population belonging to ethnic minorities, including Miao and Dong communities.
The capital, Guiyang, holds an annual International Big Data Expo showcasing big data developments, as the province is being developed into China's first 'big data valley'.
Notably Guizhou's Maotai liquor, a type of baijiu distilled from fermented sorghum, is recognized worldwide for its unique fiery flavor and smooth finish.
