Mount Fanjing, Sacred Buddhist mountain in Guizhou, China
Mount Fanjing rises to 2,570 meters with three distinct summits, featuring ancient temples at its peaks and dense forests along its slopes.
The mountain gained religious importance during the Tang Dynasty in 639 AD when the first Buddhist temples were constructed on its peaks.
The temples at New Golden Summit serve as a primary destination for Buddhist pilgrims seeking the path of Maitreya Buddha's enlightenment.
Visitors can reach the summit through an 8,888-step stairway or take a cable car from the base station in Tongren City.
The mountain contains rare species including the Guizhou golden monkey and Fanjingshan fir, found nowhere else on Earth.
