The Miaojiang Great Wall extends for 190 kilometers through Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture, featuring over 1,300 military structures including blockhouses, watchtowers, and sentry posts.
Construction of this fortification started in 1554 during the Ming Dynasty and concluded in 1662, responding to regional administration needs in southern China.
The wall separated Miao territory into northern and southern sections, restricting movement between Han and Miao populations during Ming and Qing dynasties.
The wall measures 3 meters in height with a base width of 2 meters, incorporating stone materials that differ from northern wall sections.
Huangsiqiao Ancient Town, positioned 28 kilometers west of Fenghuang County, served as the main military station of the Southern Great Wall.
