Furong Cave

Furong Cave is a limestone cave in Wulong District featuring three separate sections shaped by distinct geological processes and mineral deposits. An underground river runs through the passages, having carved and decorated the rock walls over countless ages.

Local farmers discovered this cave by chance in 1993, and it opened to visitors shortly after. The site later became recognized as part of a larger UNESCO protected area focusing on karst geology in the region.

International scientific teams from China, Britain, and America conducted multiple expeditions to study the cave's geological features and underground river system.

The cave can be reached by cable car from the visitor center, making access straightforward throughout the year. The interior pathways are well-marked and the constant temperature indoors provides comfort regardless of weather conditions outside.

The cave contains an impressive stone waterfall formation and numerous types of mineral sediments that reveal millions of years of geological activity. This particular combination of features draws attention from geologists and researchers who study karst systems worldwide.
