Zhongxian Yangtze River Bridge, Suspension road bridge in Zhong County, Chongqing, China

Zhongxian Yangtze River Bridge is a suspension bridge that crosses the river and links the two sides of Zhong County in Chongqing. It carries China National Highway 350 and provides a direct path for road traffic across the water.

Construction began in November 1998 and the bridge opened to traffic on 29 August 2001. In 2006 it received the Lu Ban Award, a Chinese prize for engineering excellence.

The bridge transformed how people move across the Yangtze, replacing ferries that were once the only way to cross between these communities. It now shapes daily routines for locals who travel between the two sides of the county.

The bridge carries road traffic on China National Highway 350 between Zhongzhou town and the opposite bank of the Yangtze. It is a suspension bridge with a 560 m main span and an 18 m wide deck, so expect open exposure to wind on the crossing. There are no pedestrian walkways described in the sources, so crossing is by vehicle.

The bridge's 560-metre main span placed it among the longest suspension spans in the world when it opened in 2001. In 2006 it received the Lu Ban Award, a Chinese prize for engineering excellence, named after the legendary carpenter Lu Ban.
