Xueyu Cave, Solutional cave in Fengdu County, Chongqing, China.
Xueyu is a solutional cave in Fengdu County with an underground network spanning approximately 1.6 kilometers across multiple vertical levels with numerous deposits throughout. The chambers are filled with snow-white mineral formations that define the appearance of the entire cave system.
The cave was scientifically documented in the mid-1990s, making it one of the most recently explored cave systems in China. This relatively recent discovery adds it to the catalog of known karst formations in the country.
The name Xueyu translates to Snow Jade Cave, referring to the white mineral deposits that visitors encounter throughout its passages. This coloring defines the appearance of the entire cave system and makes it visually distinct from other underground formations.
The cave is accessible to visitors with regular bus connections from the area center, making travel straightforward to arrange. Wear comfortable shoes with good grip since the underground passages are uneven and may have slippery surfaces.
Inside the cave are two notable formations: the Stone King's Flag rising upward for several meters and the Shield, another substantial structure. These two features rank among the largest examples of their type worldwide.
