HSBC Building, Multi-story urban building in Huangpu District, China

The HSBC Building features six floors of neo-classical architecture with a central dome, Ionic columns, and granite facing along Shanghai's waterfront.

The structure, completed in 1923, served as the headquarters of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation until 1955, marking Shanghai's financial development.

Traditional Chinese feng shui principles influenced the building's construction, with international coins buried in its foundation according to local customs.

The building now houses the Shanghai Pudong Development Bank while maintaining its status as a Shanghai Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Two bronze lions named Stephen and Stitt guard the entrance, surviving wartime threats and standing as enduring symbols of the building's banking heritage.
