Gate to the East

Gate to the East is a postmodern skyscraper in Suzhou rising 302 meters high with 68 floors above ground and 5 basement levels beneath. The building holds extensive commercial space and features modern elevator systems connecting different sections of this high-rise structure.

The project took shape between 2004 and 2016, with its official opening in 2014 after a substantial investment. This extended construction period reflects the complexity of building such a large-scale development.

The building sits at a symbolic crossroads between the old city and the modern waterfront, serving as a transition point between two different worlds. Visitors notice how the architecture physically expresses this connection and shapes the urban landscape.

The building is fully accessible with numerous elevators for smooth vertical movement throughout. Plan adequate time to explore the different commercial areas, as the premises are quite expansive.

The building's silhouette forms a massive gateway shape that is instantly recognizable, making it the second tallest structure in the city. This distinctive design was intentionally chosen to reflect the building's name.
