Suzhou Zhongnan Center, Skyscraper in Suzhou Industrial Park, China
Suzhou Zhongnan Center is a postmodern skyscraper with 103 floors that tapers toward the top in a cone-like silhouette. The building houses retail spaces, offices, residential apartments, a hotel, and an observation deck distributed across multiple levels.
Construction began in 2014 but underwent major redesign in 2019 to comply with China's 500-meter height limit for buildings. This modification created the tapered form that defines the structure's final appearance.
The building merges contemporary design with references to Suzhou's traditional construction methods. Its facade displays patterns that echo local craftsmanship and connect the structure to the city's architectural identity.
The building sits in Suzhou Industrial Park and is accessible by public transportation. Keep in mind that construction or final finishing work may still be underway on certain floors, and not all sections are open to the public.
The building requires 93 elevators to serve its various sections, making it one of the most elevator-intensive structures in the park. This exceptional number of lifts reflects the vertical complexity needed to move people through such a tall structure efficiently.
