Haojing

Haojing is an archaeological site in Xi'an containing remains of structures and artifacts from the Western Zhou dynasty situated along the Feng River's eastern bank. Excavations have uncovered residential buildings, workshops, and other structures that document the layout and daily life of this ancient settlement.

The settlement developed as one of two principal capitals during the Western Zhou dynasty and functioned as a governmental center for several centuries. It was eventually abandoned when the dynasty declined and power shifted to other regions.

The site reveals how people organized their settlement and daily activities during the Western Zhou dynasty through discovered houses and craft workshops. Visitors can observe the architectural layout that reflects the role this place played as a major administrative center.

The site is located in the northern section of Xi'an and is accessible through the Doumen Subdistrict area. Since excavation work continues at the location, access conditions and visiting arrangements may change, so checking ahead is advisable.

The name Zongzhou referred to this place's role as the administrative hub controlling numerous dependent states across the region. This designation highlights the political importance this settlement held during its period of prominence.
