New Yalu River Bridge

The New Yalu River Bridge extends for 3 kilometers across the border river with a main span measuring 636 meters in length.

Construction of this international bridge began in 2011 following agreements between China and North Korea to upgrade their border infrastructure connections.

The bridge represents changing economic relations between China and North Korea, with China investing 350 million dollars in its construction.

Four traffic lanes accommodate large vehicles and trucks exceeding 20 tonnes, offering increased capacity compared to the older Sino-Korean Friendship Bridge.

Despite its completion in 2014, the bridge remained unused as the North Korean side ended in an empty field without connecting infrastructure.
