Lui Seng Chun, Grade I historic building in Mong Kok, Hong Kong.
Lui Seng Chun is a four-story shophouse at the intersection of Lai Chi Kok and Tong Mi Roads in Mong Kok, featuring curved facades, granite columns, and decorative balustrades. The structure combines traditional Chinese and Western architectural elements throughout its design.
Built in 1931 by architect W.H. Bourne, the building initially housed a traditional Chinese medicine shop on the ground floor with residential spaces above. After a revitalization in 2012, it was converted into a healthcare center for Chinese medicine.
The building blends Chinese and Western architectural styles through its neoclassical features and traditional shophouse layout that was common in early Hong Kong. The facade design and interior spaces reflect a time when Eastern and Western design traditions met in the city's commercial districts.
The building now operates as a Chinese medicine healthcare center managed by Hong Kong Baptist University and sits at a busy intersection with good access. The location is easy to reach on foot and surrounded by other shops and local amenities.
The structure retains original details such as wooden signboards, shop windows, trademark glass panels, and terrazzo walls from its construction period. These rare authentic elements let visitors see the craftsmanship and design methods that were used in that era.
