Dongting Lake Bridge Hangrui

The Dongting Lake Bridge Hangrui is a steel suspension bridge that spans 2390 meters with a main span of 1480 meters. The roadway sits 206 meters above the water and is supported by two tall pylons that define the structure's appearance.

The bridge opened in 2018 and significantly improved transportation connections between eastern and western regions. It became part of a larger highway system linking multiple provinces across central China.

The bridge crosses Dongting Lake, the second largest freshwater lake in China, which functions as a natural water regulation system for the Yangtze River.

The bridge has six traffic lanes and handles heavy traffic flow between regions. It is well maintained and clearly marked for both vehicle and pedestrian use.

The design accounts for wind forces in the region to ensure stability over the water. Special damping systems help reduce vibrations and extend the structure's lifespan.
