Hlavatice

Hlavatice is a sandstone viewpoint on the northern edge of the Hruboskalská plateau at roughly 380 meters above sea level. The location features an iron staircase with 36 steps leading to an observation platform with views across surrounding mountains and valleys.

The original wooden spiral staircase was replaced with an iron structure at the end of the 19th century during a period of regional modernization. This change reflected broader developments in the area as walking routes were being expanded and improved.

The viewpoint forms part of the Golden Path of Český ráj, a route that connects Turnov with Valdštejn Castle through multiple natural and built landmarks. Over time, this location has become a meeting point where walkers experience the region as an interconnected whole.

Access is free and available year-round, with parking available in Pelešany about 1.2 kilometers away. From there, a short walk takes you to the viewpoint, making it an easy destination for most visitors to reach.

The observation platform features a relief map that helps visitors identify distant landmarks such as the Ještěd ridge, Jizerské mountains, and other peaks. This practical tool allows walkers to understand the geography of the region and orient their views toward recognizable points.
