Kopicův statek, Traditional farm in Kacanovy, Czech Republic.
Kopicův statek is a traditional farm in the Jizera region built with timber-frame construction, an upper floor, and a gallery. The building displays characteristic construction methods typical of this mountain area.
The farm became known when its owner František Jiroš became the first mayor of Turnov district after manorial offices were abolished. This role made the property important for local development.
The farmstead is connected to sandstone reliefs carved into the landscape over many years, showing figures important to Czech history. These works have become part of how the place is experienced and remembered by visitors today.
The property sits along a marked trail that runs through a sandstone valley past various stone works. Access is straightforward on foot and the route is well signposted throughout.
The final work by Vojtěch Kopic, who carved reliefs here for decades, depicts the legendary figure Libuše and was meant to honor the National Theater. Kopic passed away shortly after completing this last piece.
