Arboretum Bukovina, Arboretum in Hrubá Skála, Czech Republic.
Arboretum Bukovina is a collection of trees located near Hrubá Skála Castle in the Bohemian Paradise region of the Czech Republic. The garden spreads across several hectares and features a diverse range of tree species arranged throughout the landscape.
Jan Bedřich Lexa of Aehrenthal and Leopold Anger founded this collection in 1860 as an experimental garden for North American tree species. The site was created to demonstrate which exotic varieties could thrive in Central Europe.
The Swiss-style garden house from the 1800s serves as an exhibition space where visitors learn about the trees and the site's past.
The garden is most accessible during warmer months and provides visitor information about the different tree varieties. A small cafe allows visitors to take a break during their visit.
The collection contains approximately 35 different tree species and was one of the first in Central Europe to focus on North American varieties. This made the site a pioneer in introducing exotic trees to the region.
