Adamovo lože, Rock formation in Hrubá Skála, Czech Republic

Adamovo lože is an artificial rock formation carved into the sandstone of the Hruboskalské skalní město below Hrubá Skála Chateau. It was created by sculptor Chládek from Turnov and originally featured an altar of love with a statue of a loving couple and Cupid, facing a carved sofa with two lions. Today only the sofa relief remains recognizable.

František Adam of Valdštejn, a Maltese knight and brother of Josef of Valdštejn, the last Valdštejn owner of the estate, had the formation built during his stays at Hrubá Skála Chateau. The sculptor Chládek from Turnov was entrusted with the work. The site was then called Venušina sluj (Venus's Grotto) and was meant to recall three Adams: the first man, the family founder Adam of Valdštejn, and František Adam himself.

The site is reached via the yellow hiking trail running from Hrubá Skála Chateau to the springs near Lázně Sedmihorky. The carved reliefs lie in the rock below the chateau, so follow the yellow marks rather than the routes toward Valdštejn.
