Woldegk

Woldegk is a small town in Mecklenburgische Seenplatte District featuring traditional German architecture and multiple windmills scattered across the countryside. The settlement spreads across rural terrain with classic buildings and historical structures that define its character.

The settlement was founded in 1201 and developed into a fortified settlement with ramparts and moats by the mid-15th century. These defenses made it a strategic location in the region.

The town preserves several Dutch-style windmills from the 18th century, with one now serving as an educational museum for visitors. These mills shape the local landscape and reflect the region's craft heritage.

The town sits about 24 kilometers southeast of Neubrandenburg and is reachable by car or bus from neighboring cities. Visitors can orient themselves easily using the windmills and town center as reference points.

In 1764 the town experienced an F5 tornado, one of the earliest documented severe weather events of this magnitude in European history. This rare natural event makes the location notable from a meteorological standpoint.
