Wertheim

Wertheim is positioned where the Main and Tauber rivers meet, with stone bridges connecting different parts of the town through narrow cobblestone streets.

The settlement originated between the 7th and 8th centuries, evolving into a significant regional center when Count Eberhard received coin minting rights in 1363.

The Gothic Stiftskirche from 1383 and numerous preserved half-timbered buildings represent the architectural heritage of different historical periods in Wertheim.

Visitors can reach the elevated castle ruins through a 15-minute uphill walk from the town center, where a restaurant serves regional specialties.

The town features metal plaques marking historical flood levels and contains one of Germany's oldest Jewish cemeteries, established in 1406.
