Eagle-Pharmacy, Historical pharmacy in Stolberg, Germany

Eagle-Pharmacy is a two-storey house at Burgstrasse 21 in Stolberg, built of Bruchstein (rubble stone) and the oldest stone house in the town. It was erected in 1575 as the manor house of a copper yard, Schleichers Hof, a few metres from the Burgfelsen of Stolberg Castle. The datable wall anchors of that build are still visible on the facade.

Leonhard Schleicher, a copper master from Aachen, bought the plot at Burgstrasse 21 in 1571 and built a copper yard called Schleichers Hof there in 1575; it was Stolberg's first copper yard and, beside the castle, the only stone building. The datable wall anchors from that phase survive. In 1750 the Schleicher family sold the house, and the same year Stolberg's first rural pharmacy opened in it.

The name Adler-Apotheke, "Eagle Pharmacy", was given by the Hausmann family, who ran the shop from 1750. The building at Burgstrasse 21 had been Leonhard Schleicher's copper yard, and the datable wall anchors from 1575 are still visible on the masonry. The pharmacy closed on 1 September 1971 and the house now holds apartments.

The building at Burgstrasse 21 is now an apartment house, not a pharmacy, so visitors cannot obtain medicines there. It stands a few metres from the Burgfelsen of Stolberg Castle, and the wall anchors bearing the date 1575 are still visible on the facade.

The building is no longer a pharmacy: the business closed on 1 September 1971 under its last owner, Charles Schwarz, who had retired in 1961. It is now used as an apartment house. On the facade, the surviving wall anchors bear the date of the 1575 construction.
