Remshalden, municipality in Germany
Remshalden is a small municipality in Baden-Württemberg within the Rems-Murr district, roughly 18 kilometers east of Stuttgart. It consists of five districts: Buoch, Geradstetten, Grunbach, Hebsack, and Rohrbronn, each displaying traditional German architecture with brick buildings and tiled roofs.
Remshalden was formed in the 1970s when several older communities merged for better administration. Before this merger, each district had its own history, with some dating back several centuries.
Remshalden takes its name from the Rems river, which runs through the valley where the municipality sits. The five districts that make up the town each maintain their own sense of community identity, visible in how residents organize local gatherings and celebrations within their neighborhoods.
The municipality is served by the S-Bahn train line S2, which connects directly to Stuttgart and allows visitors to travel without a car. The popular Remstal-Radweg cycle route runs flat along the river and works well for family rides or relaxed day trips.
Remshalden is home to railway and model train manufacturers that give the small municipality an active working atmosphere. This industrial presence makes it an unexpected hub for train enthusiasts.
