1. Deutsches Polizeioldtimer-Museum, Police vehicle museum in Marburg, Germany
The Deutsches Polizeioldtimer-Museum is a vehicle museum in Marburg that displays over 100 historical police vehicles, including motorcycles, patrol cars, armored vehicles, and water cannons from different time periods. The collection spans several decades of German police history and shows how vehicle technology and equipment developed.
The museum was founded in 2000 by the Polizei-Motorsport-Club Marburg, beginning with a restored 1958 Opel Rekord P1. What started as a modest collection grew into Germany's largest police vehicle archive.
The collection reflects how police work and technology evolved across different decades in Germany. Walking through the rows of vehicles shows how each era approached law enforcement and what tools were necessary at the time.
The museum is located in Marburg and opens regularly on Sundays from April through October. All exhibition areas are accessible for visitors with mobility needs, making it easy to view the vehicles.
The museum lends its historical vehicles to film productions and contributed five vehicles to the movie Der Baader Meinhof Komplex. This practical role connects the collection to cinema history and brings the vehicles to life on screen.
