Blomberg, Mountain summit in Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen, Germany
Blomberg is a mountain summit in the Bavarian Prealps, rising above the town of Bad Tölz in the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen. The peak is reachable on foot via marked trails or by chairlift, and its open top gives wide views over the foothills and the surrounding alpine ridges.
The shape of Blomberg was formed during the last ice age, when glaciers carved the valley floor and the surrounding slopes. The mountain became a popular day-trip destination in the second half of the 20th century, when the chairlift and toboggan run were built.
The Blomberghaus at the top is a classic Bavarian mountain hut where walkers stop for regional food like Brotzeit and warm soups. On weekends, the terrace fills with locals and day-trippers sitting together after a walk or a toboggan run.
The summit is a good option for families since the chairlift allows people who are not keen on long uphill walks to reach the top without effort. On busy weekends, the valley station can get crowded, so an early start makes the day more comfortable.
The Blomberg has one of Germany's longest natural toboggan runs, which in low-snow winters operates as a summer toboggan track on a fixed rail. This means the run is open for much of the year, not just in winter, making the mountain a destination in any season.
