Zinnowitz

Zinnowitz is a coastal spa on Usedom Island with three kilometers of Baltic Sea shoreline and a wide sandy beach. The surrounding area features dense forests of beech and oak trees that extend down to the coast.

The settlement began as a fishing village in the 14th century and transformed into a seaside resort during the 19th century thanks to railway development. This change made it a respected spa destination on the Baltic coast.

The townscape features villas from the 19th century that reflect the era when wealthy visitors came to recuperate by the sea. These buildings remain visible today and show how the place developed over time.

The resort is accessible by car via the A20 motorway, by train from Stralsund, or by flight through Heringsdorf airport. The town offers wide pathways along the coast, and most destinations are reachable on foot or by short bike rides.

A recreational jetty extends into the Achterwasser lagoon and provides mooring spaces for boats. This lagoon is a sheltered area with its own wildlife and plant life that differs from the open Baltic Sea.
