Tirschenreuth, District capital in northeastern Bavaria, Germany.

Tirschenreuth is a town in northeastern Bavaria situated on gently rolling terrain at an elevation of approximately 500 meters. The urban layout features a central market square surrounded by residential neighborhoods and local businesses typical of small German towns.

The town developed under the long influence of nearby Waldsassen Abbey, which contributed to its growth as a regional center over many centuries. A major administrative shift occurred in 1972 when the district boundaries were reorganized to create the modern municipal structure.

The coat of arms displays a golden lion representing the Palatinate and a red dragon symbolizing Waldsassen Abbey, powers that shaped the region for centuries. These symbols reflect the historical ties that remain visible in the town's character today.

The market square serves as the natural gathering point and best reference for orientation when exploring the town on foot. The town's compact size makes it easy to walk around and discover shops, cafes, and local spots without difficulty.

The Trinity Column stands as a distinctive landmark in the market square, marking the heart of community life and seasonal celebrations over many decades. This monument holds special meaning for locals and serves as a gathering spot that connects past traditions with present-day events.
