Alpsee, Alpine lake near Füssen, Germany
The Alpsee extends across five kilometers of shoreline, surrounded by wooded mountain slopes and situated at an elevation of 814 meters.
The Bavarian royal family selected this location in the 19th century to construct Hohenschwangau Castle, using the lake as part of their estate grounds.
The Fürstenstrasse path near the lake connects the German town of Hohenschwangau with the Austrian Alpine village of Pinswang through mountain passages.
Visitors can rent electric boats from April to October to explore the lake, while a circular hiking trail provides year-round access to viewpoints.
The lake's position offers unobstructed views of both Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles, reflecting in its clear waters during calm weather conditions.
