The Civil Peace Service is a coalition of nine German organizations working together on violence prevention and conflict transformation in international regions. The consortium manages a network of roughly 380 peace professionals operating in more than 40 countries worldwide.
The organization was established in 1996 to coordinate and centralize peace-building efforts across German development organizations. Locating its headquarters in Berlin's Neukölln district strengthened the coordination of German peace work at home and abroad.
