St. Clara Church, Parish church in Neukölln, Germany.
St. Clara Church is a red brick structure built in the Gothic Revival style, featuring a prominent 57-meter tower with four small turrets at its corners. The interior displays numerous stained glass windows and houses a notable Sauer organ installed in 1901.
Architect August Menken designed the church, which opened in 1897 to serve the rapidly expanding Catholic population in the Rixdorf area. A major renovation in 1981 brought upgrades to the structure while relocating the organ to its current location.
The church was built to serve the growing Catholic community of Rixdorf and still reflects this heritage in how it functions today. You can sense this focus on togetherness in the way the space brings people together.
The church is located on Briesestrasse in the Neukölln district and welcomes visitors during its open hours. The interior is straightforward to navigate, and you can find quieter moments when services are not taking place.
The church tower partially merges with the main gable, creating an unusual architectural solution that shapes the neighborhood's skyline. This design was an intentional choice by the architect to make the building more recognizable and distinctive from different angles.
