Hohenlimburg, Medieval borough in Hagen, Germany
Located on the banks of the Lenne river, Hohenlimburg features a hilltop castle that overlooks the surrounding valley and industrial district.
The settlement emerged in 1230 when Count Dietrich I of Isenberg constructed a fortress, establishing the County of Limburg-Hohenlimburg in the region.
The district maintains strong industrial traditions through metal processing facilities, textile manufacturing plants, and ironwork production centers dating from the 1900s.
Hohenlimburg station connects travelers to regional destinations via the Ruhr-Sieg railway, offering regular service between Hagen and neighboring cities.
Wilhelm Böing, who departed from Hohenlimburg in 1868, became a timber merchant in America and fathered William Boeing, founder of the aircraft company.
