Hohenlimburg Castle

Hohenlimburg is a medieval castle perched on a hilltop in North Rhine-Westphalia with thick stone walls, defensive towers, and multiple levels forming a complete fortified structure. The building now functions as a museum displaying various exhibitions about the region's history.

Count Dietrich von Isenburg had this fortress built around 1300 and made it the seat of his power for the county of Limburg-Hohenlimburg. The structure later evolved into a significant cultural center for the region.

The castle displays collections showing how noble families lived and worked across the centuries. Visitors can see old typewriters and steel products that reflect the industrial history of the region.

Wilhelm Böing, the father of Boeing founder, came from Hohenlimburg before emigrating to the United States in 1868. This connection to an internationally known company remains part of the place's local history today.
