Markus Wasmeier Bauernhof- und Wintersportmuseum, Open-air museum and brewery in Schliersee, Germany.
The Markus Wasmeier farm and winter sports museum is an open-air site in Schliersee covering more than 60,000 square meters (about 650,000 square feet) with ten relocated historical buildings from the Upper Land region. The farmhouses, workshops, and barns represent different periods and show what rural life and working crafts looked like in Bavaria.
The site was founded in 2007 by Markus Wasmeier, a former Olympic ski jumper, who started by relocating three historical buildings to preserve Bavarian rural heritage. Over time, more structures were added to create a fuller picture of how the region's people lived and worked.
The site shows how people lived and worked in Bavaria through active craft stations for pottery, basket weaving, and traditional brewing that visitors can watch. You see spaces where bread was baked in wood ovens and schnapps were made, just as locals did in their daily routines.
The site is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with walking paths through the various buildings you can explore at your own pace. Some areas have limited wheelchair access, so wearing comfortable walking shoes is helpful for getting around the outdoor grounds.
The Riederhof, one of the original structures from 1730, displays kitchen spaces from different decades of the 1900s and reveals how daily life changed over time. These rooms show how cooking and household routines evolved through the generations.
