Arzberg, town in Bavaria, Germany

Arzberg is a small town in Bavaria located at the edge of the Fichtel Mountains, overlooking the Röslau river valley. Historic buildings characterize the town center, while green hills frame the surroundings and offer walking trails through rural landscapes.

Arzberg was first recorded in 1268 as a small farming and mining settlement that gradually grew into a market town. Craft and porcelain traditions from the 19th century onward shaped its development and brought prosperity to the community.

Carnival celebrations define life in Arzberg for over 50 years and bring the community together. Colorful parades and festivities show how the town lives its traditions while supporting social causes.

Arzberg is easily reached by car or train and sits about 20 minutes from the Czech border, making day trips to neighboring towns convenient. Walking through the old streets is the best way to explore, with clear signage during larger events.

A former coal power plant was shut down in 2003 and transformed into a popular recreational lake with cycling and walking paths. This conversion shows how the town reimagined an industrial site for leisure and nature.
