Unterföhring

Unterföhring is a municipality situated northeast of Munich at an elevation of about 507 meters. The settlement spreads across roughly 13 square kilometers and hosts several large corporations and broadcasting organizations.

The settlement held importance even before Munich was founded in 1158 because it controlled a strategic crossing over the Isar River. The Föhringer Bridge made this location a crucial traffic point in the region's network.

The place has become a major media hub in Germany, with several major broadcasting companies operating their headquarters here. Daily television and radio productions happen throughout the municipality, shaping its character as a working center for entertainment and news.

The location sits conveniently within the eastern metropolitan area and offers good transportation connections for visitors. Most areas are easily accessible, though some corporate premises may not be open to public access.

The local rugby club RC Unterföhring made history when it became the first village team to reach the Rugby-Bundesliga after promotion in 2017. This achievement shows how deeply rooted sports competition is in the community and draws regional attention.
