Hegel House is the 16th-century building at Eberhardstraße 53 in Stuttgart where Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel was born in 1770. Its pale facade with grey shutters and a rough stone ground floor carries the lettering "MUSEUM HEGELHAUS". Inside, three floors hold a roughly 18-minute 3D projection on the ground floor and original objects such as Hegel's beret and Stammbuch above.
The building dates from the 16th century and became significant as the birthplace of philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel in 1770. It was later converted into a museum to preserve the memory of this influential figure in German idealist philosophy.
The permanent exhibition is offered in German, English and Chinese. On selected Saturdays the museum runs "Kinderphilosophie", teaching children philosophical thinking through play, and groups can book guided tours titled "Hegels Leben und Werk" or "Philosophie und Hegels Denken".
The museum occupies the house at Eberhardstraße 53; the permanent exhibition is spread over three floors, with the roughly 18-minute multimedia installation on the ground floor starting the visit. Labels are in German, English and Chinese. Group tours on Hegel's life and work can be booked in advance, and a children's philosophy session is held on selected Saturdays.
An interactive escape room experience on one of the floors invites visitors to solve puzzles based on philosophical concepts. This playful activity offers an unusual way to engage with abstract ideas through hands-on problem-solving.
