Garnisonkirche St. Martin

The Garrison Church of Saint Martin rises 90 meters with its Romanesque Revival architecture, featuring round arches and strong stone pillars throughout the structure.

Built between 1893 and 1900, the church was financed through reparation payments from France following the Franco-Prussian War of 1870.

The church initially contained two separate worship spaces, accommodating both Lutheran Protestant and Catholic services within the same building complex.

Located on Stauffenbergallee near the central arsenal building, the church stands on elevated ground overlooking both the Prießnitz valley and Dresden city center.

Since 1945, the former Catholic section of this dual-confession church has served both Protestant and Catholic congregations under the St. Francis Xavier parish.
