BMW Park, Indoor sports arena in Sendling-Westpark, Germany
BMW Park is a multi-purpose hall in Sendling-Westpark, in the southwest of Munich, known for its circular ground plan and aluminum facade. The roof is a self-supporting construction that spans the large interior without additional columns.
The hall opened in 1972 for the Olympic basketball games and was part of the sports facilities for the Munich Summer Games. Since 2011 the basketball team of FC Bayern Munich has played its home games here permanently.
The name honors Rudi Sedlmayer, who led the Bavarian sports association for many years and supported amateur athletics. Today the hall belongs to the everyday life of basketball fans who come here to cheer their team.
You can reach the hall by taking subway lines U4 and U5 to Heimeranplatz or bus 133 to Siegenburger Straße stop. The building has space for around 6700 spectators and can be used for both sporting events and concerts.
Inside there is a separate warm-up hall and a restaurant for guests in addition to the main hall. During game breaks you can often watch the warm-up routines of other teams scheduled to play later.
