Altes Rathaus Arnsberg, Historic town hall in Arnsberg, Germany.
The Altes Rathaus Arnsberg is an administrative building with a prominent archive tower and a coat of arms shield from Elector Maximilian Heinrich of Bavaria on its northern pavilion. Inside, it houses the Knight's Hall, a citizens' hall, and other rooms designed for municipal functions and formal gatherings.
The building was constructed in 1709 following a devastating city fire and served as the administrative center and meeting place for the regional parliament of the Duchy of Westphalia. It represents the city's rebuilt identity after the major fire.
The Knight's Hall displays life-size oil paintings of former regional rulers and serves as a venue for wedding ceremonies and formal events. The room conveys a sense of local authority and the important occasions that have taken place within these walls over time.
The building is equipped with modern accessibility features, including an elevator and emergency staircase for easy access. It is centrally located at Alter Markt 1 in Arnsberg and easily reached on foot.
A blue stone beneath a 16th-century Madonna statue at the corner of Hallenstraße has a mysteriously disputed past. Local traditions connect it to ancient rituals, but its exact meaning remains unclear to this day.
