Überwasserkirche, Gothic parish church in Münster-Altstadt, Germany
The 64-meter tall hall church features three naves, twin towers, and Medieval Gothic architectural elements with stone tracery windows and pointed arches.
The first church on this site was consecrated in 1040 by King Heinrich III, while the current Gothic structure was constructed starting from 1340.
The church served as an educational institution for noble women through its Stift foundation, which later evolved into the University of Münster.
The church maintains regular worship services, offers wheelchair access, and contains two organs: a main one from 1972 and a smaller choir organ from 1985.
Bishop Clemens August Graf von Galen delivered his second sermon against the Nazi regime here in 1941, titled 'We are the anvil, not the hammer.'
