Zwiefalten Abbey, Benedictine monastery in Zwiefalten, Germany.

The enormous Baroque church features intricate frescoes by Franz Joseph Spiegler and detailed architectural elements throughout its grand interior spaces.

Founded in 1089 by Counts Kuno and Gero of Achalm, the monastery received independence from Württemberg's rule in 1750 as a Reichsabtei.

The monastery's library contained 466 manuscripts from the 9th century and 762 incunabula, demonstrating its role as a center of learning.

Located near Reutlingen in Baden-Württemberg, the former abbey now operates as a psychiatric hospital while its church serves the Catholic parish.

The monastery functioned as a double-abbey around 1100, hosting both monks and nuns, including Gertrude, daughter of Duke Bolesław III of Poland.
