Schloss Ehrenfels

Schloss Ehrenfels is a Baroque structure in Hayingen that served as a summer residence with distinctive architectural features. The main building houses an ornate staircase, leads to an expansive Baroque-style park, and sits atop a cellar carved deep into the bedrock below.

Abbot Augustin Stegmüller from Zwiefalten monastery commissioned the castle between 1735 and 1740 as a summer residence. This period marked a significant shift in transforming the location from monastic use into a noble retreat.

Coats of arms displayed throughout the castle tell the story of its different owners across centuries. These symbols are visible especially at the entrance and near the Baroque staircases, where they continue to speak of the place's past to visitors today.

The property offers parking facilities and accessible entry for visitors with mobility limitations. The rooms accommodate smaller gatherings, so it is advisable to check in advance whether the place is open to public visits on your intended day.

The castle foundation preserves wooden panels from the original monk quarters beneath its structure. These remnants reveal how the site functioned as monastic lodging before being repurposed into a noble residence.
