Andechs Abbey

The church structure rises above the Bavarian landscape with its prominent onion dome, multiple altars, and Gothic architectural elements throughout the building.

In 955, Count Rasso of Diessen transferred religious relics from Rome and the Holy Land to this location for protection from Hungarian invasions.

The monastery maintains the Klosterbrauerei Andechs brewery, which generates funds to support charitable activities and assistance for homeless people in Munich.

Located at Bergstraße 2 in Andechs, the church welcomes 30,000 organized pilgrims annually and offers regular religious services in multiple chapels.

The burial site contains remains of the House of Wittelsbach members and German composer Carl Orff within the church structure.
